had a quick look at the workbook and flicked through the sample meeting video.. the increased use of video shows the trend for more centralised dissemination of "best practice" .
sure there isn't really a "school" any more and the format is a bit different but i think those that called it as the same old crap just in new package got it pretty much right.

No matter what new program the Society comes up with, it always involves their having to PRINT something. It's as if they can't help themselves.
True to form, this program is no different, right down to the repetitive questions with pre-packaged answers that leave no room for a genuine discussion to ensue or any unplanned dialogue to occur whatsoever.

And before anyone asks why I should care about what happens 3000 miles away across the Atlantic, it's because your culture seeps across Europe like rising damp in an old house.
Wasn't there a mass shooting in a train station in France and another in Australia not too long ago? I have to wonder why it is that why a country full of seemingly intelligent people 3000 miles across the Atlantic are willing to drop their own culture and "absorb" the rising mold of "American Culture" into their old damp houses? To listen to the news, it 's all guns all the time, over here and you couldn't walk down the street without encountering a gun or gunman.
Maybe things will be better when China is the #1 world power and we can blame our own problems on them and their culture.
i know quite a few youths (late teens to early twenties) who have the goal of full time service, as bethelites or international construction, so they're doing the required slog of pioneering in order to achieve this goal.
this is a goal which has been excitedly set out for them the last few years or so at assemblies etc.
now they see the cuts, surely they are going to be discouraged and disillusioned.
A lot of the kids I know who went seemed to gravitate toward some sunny climate and sandy beaches and serving where the need is more fun, rather than heading for Alaska to witness to a village on the frozen tundra. They put a few hours in field service each day or ever so many days and head to the beach. Mom and Dad financed them usually and they stayed with other JW's for little or nothing. I imagine it will stay the same even though they are cutting back at H.Q.

Apparently the more people that pray, the more likely Jehovah will help , especially if you mention them by name. I wonder if it would be helpful to include their middle initial and mailing address. I mean, it would be a shame if he helped a worldly person named Geoffry Jackson instead of the Geoffry Jackson who really needs help right now.

it's become obvious in the last few days that the borg is done, done giving one dime over to the membership of the organization.
they know or have been told that it's a waste of time to spend money trying to recruit new members so their cutting all out lays of money in this regard to the bone.
they will continue to spend money where they can make a prophet, keeping the ones in, not thinking and donating.

i've been struggling for years of wrestling in my mind regarding the organization.
i guess the big thing for me to push me over the edge is the generation overlapping thingy.
Their literature of old uncovers everything!! I got addicted to finding out everything of old.
It was drummed into our heads as JW's to look at (and agonize over) the origins of things.
the rejection of so many of the seemingly harmless modern day customs and beliefs, was based solely on where they originated. We were told that it didn't matter that these things morphed over time and became something completely different in our day. (ie: Throwing rice, Kids Birthday parties, Mother's day etc.)
All of that strict logic goes out the window once you point out to a JW the origins of their own flawed doctrines. They excuse these by looking at what they eventually became , rather than seeing that their entire existence was based on false premises that were established by their leaders from the past.

yesterday i read something that hurt my heart.
at a talk given by a brother lyman swingle ( i apologize if i am stepping out of line by using this) he said "that if you leave the jw ( i find it difficult to refer to it as the truth now days) you may as well go jump off a bridge".
this i think is disgraceful talk to say to any body let alone an audience in which children are present.

During the Australian Royal Commission Hearings. Governing Body Member G. Jackson was asked point blank if he thought that Jehovah's Witnesses were the only ones in the world that God is directing. He said the it would be presumptious of the G.B to assume that they were the only ones being directed by God. He was in a corner and knew the negative reaction that would have occurred if he'd have been honest.
We all know that every indication is given in the literature and from the podium that JW's are the one and only true religion and everyone else is part of Babylon the Great and are being directed by Satan and will soon be destroyed by God.
